Violet Tempest is a South Carolina author and the creator of the Soul War Universe, a world of Dark Christian Fantasy. A lifelong Lowcountry native — born in Charleston, raised in Summerville, and now living in Moncks Corner — she writes stories where good and evil reside in everyone and God’s love is the strongest force there is. The Little Guardian is her debut picture book.

Born in Charleston and raised in Summerville, Violet Tempest has lived in the South Carolina Lowcountry her entire life. Her mother instilled in her a love of history, carrying her to the region’s many historic places, and it was there that Violet learned that not everything is as it appears — that behind the beauty can lie pain. Out of her own pain she found her calling to write, to create, and to weave worlds of pain and redemption for readers of all ages.
She is the creator of the Soul War Universe, a world of Dark Christian Fantasy where good and evil wage war over human souls, where broken people discover their purpose, and where God’s love is the most powerful force in existence. The Guardians Series lives within that universe, bringing its youngest readers their first glimpse of the sacred beings who protect God’s most precious children — Guardians that are also real, handcrafted and prayed over by hand in South Carolina. Violet lives in Moncks Corner with her husband and their two bunnies. The Little Guardian is her debut picture book.

Pixie Storm is a writer and visual artist whose work explores memory, hunger, healing, and the complicated tenderness of becoming. Through intimate storytelling and emotionally raw imagery, she captures the quiet spaces between love and loss, recovery and relapse, identity and self-discovery. Her art often blends softness with ache — turning deeply personal experiences into pieces that feel both haunting and familiar.
Inspired by lived experience, poetry, and the fragile beauty of everyday moments, Pixie creates work that invites vulnerability rather than perfection. Currently based in Summerville, SC, she is developing personal creative projects focused on healing, womanhood, and emotional resilience. The Little Guardian is her first illustrated picture book.
A Mother-and-Daughter Debut
Both author and illustrator remember being small children who feared the dark — and both point to faith as the thing that finally made them feel safe. That shared memory shaped The Little Guardian, a book they poured both of their hearts into. It is a debut for each of them, and the first children’s title in the Violet Tempest Universe.
